DWAYNE MONTGOMERY
After impacting my family for nearly 30+ years, cancer unwelcomely entered our home once again in February 2023 when I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. The diagnosis brought about tremendous fear, uncertainty, and an incredible sense of urgency. My wife and I immediately built a cancer team to define the proper treatment to fight against one of the deadliest cancers in existence. We sought after a leading Pancreatic Center and even more importantly, we sought after a top high-volume Pancreatic Surgeon. We were blessed to find both right here in Indianapolis at IU Health Simon Cancer Center. I completed a challenging treatment consisting of chemo and surgery (Whipple) and am currently a proud Pancreatic Cancer Survivor. Our drive to fight cancer fuels our commitment to continue supporting the Indianapolis Discovery Ball in raising funds and awareness leading to ending this disease as we know it.
The American Cancer Society is the leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. We are the only organization improving the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
